RATES
Reservation Confirmation:
The rate displayed on your reservation confirmation is provided as a good faith estimate of the anticipated cost of service, based on the information provided at the time of booking. It is important to note that this estimate is subject to change due to various factors, such as wait time, taxes, extra stops, or additional services requested. As such, the final charges will reflect the actual usage of the service. For reservations made in international markets, a mileage charge may apply. Please note that the rates are subject to change without prior notice. In the event of any delay or non-performance of services due to circumstances beyond our control, such as inclement weather, journ.is cannot be held responsible.
Hourly billed reservations:
Reservations billed on an hourly basis are calculated from the moment the vehicle departs the garage until it returns. Please note that the standard hourly minimum is three hours, although certain markets or specialty vehicles may require a higher hourly minimum.
Grace period:
At times, unexpected delays can prevent customers from meeting their chauffeurs promptly. Our team at journ.is strives to ensure that chauffeurs have ample time to reach the designated pickup location before the reservation pickup time. To this end, we offer a grace period for each reservation, allowing customers a reasonable window of time to meet their chauffeurs at the requested pickup location before incurring waiting time charges.
Airports pickups:
At journ.is, we understand the importance of timely airport pickups. As such, we continuously monitor all commercial airline arrivals to ensure that we are always on time. To provide our customers with added peace of mind, we offer a grace period for airport pickups. For domestic arrivals, we allow a grace period of thirty (30) minutes, while for international arrivals, the grace period is extended to sixty (60) minutes. Please note that waiting time charges will apply once the grace period has elapsed and will be calculated in quarter-hour increments based on the vehicle’s hourly rate.
Non-airport pickups:
For all non-airport pickups, we offer a grace period of fifteen (15) minutes, during which waiting time charges will not be incurred. Please note that after the grace period has elapsed, waiting time charges will apply and will be accrued in quarter-hour increments based on the vehicle’s hourly rate.
Base Rate:
The base rate refers to the rate for transportation services prior to the inclusion of gratuity, airport fees, tolls, and taxes.
Gratuity:
To make things more convenient for our customers, a discretionary gratuity is added to each reservation, in line with the industry standard of 20% of the base rate of the vehicle. The total gratuity amount is paid directly to the chauffeur. Please note that gratuity is entirely voluntary and reflects the quality of service provided. As such, customers may choose to negotiate or waive this charge at their discretion.
Airport Fee:
Please note that Airport Parking and Fees are subject to change without prior notice, as they are determined by various governmental authorities over which journ.is has no control. To cover these expenses, we charge an airport fee of $18.00 for all arrivals.
Taxes:
Please note that taxes are subject to change without prior notification, as they are imposed by various governmental agencies over which journ.is has no control. Taxes are charged as they are incurred and may include local, state, or federal government-imposed taxes.
Tolls:
The toll charge represents any tolls that may be incurred by journ.is during the trip between the pickup and drop-off destinations, as well as any tolls during the chauffeur’s return trip. For flat-rate transfers, tolls are calculated based on the most expeditious route, while for hourly reservations, tolls are billed as they are incurred.
N.Y. Congestion Fee:
The N.Y. Congestion fee is a $2.75 surcharge that applies to transportation that begins and ends in New York State and passes through the borough of Manhattan, south of and excluding 96th Street. This fee also applies to trips that both start and end in Manhattan’s specified area.
Extra Stops:
For in-route extra stops within the same town, we charge $25.00 per stop. In-route extra stops in a different city are charged at a rate of $35.00 per stop. For additional stops in New York City, the fee is $30.00 per stop within a twenty (20) block radius. For out-of-route extra stops, and for anything further than a twenty (20) block radius in New York City, we provide quotes on a case-by-case basis.
Early Morning/Late Night Surcharge:
Reservations scheduled between midnight and 5 AM will be subject to an additional charge of $25.00, which will be added to the base rate. This surcharge applies to all reservations booked during these hours.
Meet and Greet:
Our chauffeurs provide a complimentary meet and greet service to park the vehicle and meet arriving passengers in the airport terminal. Additionally, journ.is employs Airport Representatives at select airports to assist arriving and departing passengers in various ways. The Meet and Greet service charge by our Airport Representatives varies based on client needs and the market. Please contact us for more information about Meet and Greet services.
Child Safety Seats:
At journ.is, we prioritize your safety and comfort, which is why we offer child safety seats upon request. If you require a child safety seat, we can provide one for an additional charge of $25 per seat. Please let us know in advance if you require this service, so we can ensure that the appropriate safety seat is available for your reservation.
Cleaning Fee:
A fee for cleaning may be imposed in the event of smoking inside the vehicle or any damage that requires additional cleaning or disinfecting services beyond our standard procedures.
Special Event Pricing:
This means that for certain events or occasions that generate high demand for transportation services, such as a major sporting event or concert, journ.is may have special pricing and policies that apply. These special rates and policies may differ from the standard rates and policies for that particular market. Customers will be informed of any special terms and conditions related to their reservation in the confirmation instructions.
CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS
At journ.is, we understand that changes and cancellations to travel plans can happen unexpectedly. To ensure that we can accommodate your needs, please provide us with adequate notice of any changes or cancellations to your reservation. You can submit changes or cancellations via email at reserve@journ.is .com, through our online reservation system (when applicable), the journ.is website or mobile app, or by calling us directly at (888) JOURN-IS or (201) 440-0500 for calls outside the U.S. and Canada. Please note that changes or cancellations made via email require at least 12 hours of advance notice, and customers should take the time zone of their respective market into consideration.
Our cancellation policy is based on the actual pickup time within each market, which is important to consider when determining possible late cancellation charges. Customers who fail to provide adequate notice of trip reservation changes or cancellation will be billed the entire fare, including a 20% gratuity charge. It’s important to note that the cancellation policy may vary for buses, minibuses, vans, and event-related bookings.
If a passenger cannot be located or contacted within one hour for airport pickups (time begins when the passenger’s plane lands) or 30 minutes at other pickup locations, the reservation is considered a “no show.” In this case, the trip fare, including a 20% gratuity, will be charged. To avoid this charge, or if you’re having trouble locating your chauffeur, we advise you to only leave the pickup location on your reservation after first contacting journ.is at (888) JOURN-IS or (201) 440-0500.
- BILLING
ALL RESERVATIONS ARE BILLED IN US DOLLARS.
Pre-Authorization:
A pre-authorization is a temporary hold placed on funds in your account to ensure that there are sufficient funds available to cover the estimated total cost of your reservation, plus an additional 30%. This is typically done 36 hours before your scheduled trip. The pre-authorization is removed when your final total is processed. It’s important to note that your trip may be canceled if a pre-authorization cannot be obtained from your provided payment information before your trip.
Final total:
After your trip, the final cost will be calculated based on the distance and time traveled, any additional charges incurred, and the chosen payment method. This final amount will be reflected on your provided payment information within 48 to 72 business hours. If you don’t receive a final receipt during this time, please contact our Accounting department at accounting@journ.is.
Please be aware that a pre-authorized charge may result in one of the following situations:
- Your bank statement may temporarily show a “double-billing” or multiple payments to journ.is for the exact charges.
- Your bank may put a temporary hold on certain funds in your account, even if payment to journ.is is not declined.
- If journ.is declines your payment information, your statement may still show a pending payment to journ.is.
Please note that journ.is is not responsible for any fees or charges imposed by your bank or financial institution in relation to these pre-authorized transactions.
- USE OF PERSONAL DATA
At journ.is, we prioritize the protection of your privacy and recognize the significance of understanding how your personal information is utilized and shared. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for additional details.
- COPYRIGHTS, TRADEMARKS, AND OWNERSHIP
The content found on the Site, including text, graphics, logos, images, news, articles, software scripts, and applets (collectively the “Content”), is the exclusive property of journ.is and its affiliates. The Content is protected by United States and International copyright laws. Without written permission from journ.is, you may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works, transfer, or sell any information, software, or services obtained from the Site. Any use, including reproduction, modification, distribution, transmission, republication, display, or performance, or any exploitation of the Site or its Content or software, in whole or in part, is strictly prohibited.
The trademarks, logos, and service marks (collectively the “Trademarks”) displayed on the Site belong to journ.is and others and are both registered and unregistered. The use of any Trademark displayed on the Site without the written permission of journ.is or the owner of the Trademark is strictly prohibited. Except as provided in these Terms, your misuse of any Trademark displayed on the Site or any other Content on the Site is strictly prohibited. journ.is will aggressively enforce its intellectual property rights to the fullest extent of the law.
- DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY
The materials provided on the Site are offered without any warranty or guarantee as to their accuracy, reliability, or performance. While journ.is, its affiliates, and suppliers reserve the right to make changes and improvements to the Site at any time, they do not warrant that the information, software, or services on the Site will meet your needs or expectations.
To the fullest extent permissible under applicable law, journ.is, its affiliates, and suppliers disclaim all warranties and conditions, whether express or implied, including without limitation, implied warranties and conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. In no event shall journ.is, its affiliates, and suppliers be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Site, your inability to use the Site, or any information, software, or services obtained through the Site. This includes damages or injury caused by any failure of performance, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, computer virus, communication line failure, theft or destruction, or unauthorized access to, alteration of, or use of records.

By using the Site, you agree to comply with all security measures or systems implemented by journ.is, including but not limited to passwords or encryption mechanisms. You also agree not to use the Site for any unlawful or prohibited purpose and warrant that you will not post or transmit any material that is unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, or profane, or any materials that could encourage criminal activity or violate any law.
In the event that any material posted by you violates these Terms or any applicable law, journ.is reserves the right to fully cooperate with law enforcement authorities or court orders in disclosing your identity or any relevant information.

- SOFTWARE AVAILABLE ON THE SITE.
journ.is grants you, the user, a personal and non-transferable license to use the downloadable software applets (“Software”) solely for the purpose of viewing and using the Site in accordance with these Terms.
Please be aware that all software, including but not limited to all HTML code, JavaScript, and ActiveX controls contained on the Site, is the property of journ.is, its affiliates, and its suppliers and is protected by copyright laws and international treaties. Reproduction or redistribution of the software is strictly prohibited by law.
In addition, copying or reproducing the software to any other server or location for further reproduction or redistribution is also prohibited. The software is provided on an “as is” basis, and any warranty, if provided at all, is limited to the terms of the license agreement.
- USE OF is‘ ONLINE SERVICES
The purpose of the Site is solely to assist journ.is customers in making legitimate reservations, retrieving online ride receipts, or conducting business with journ.is. The use of the Site for any other purpose is strictly prohibited. By using the Site, you agree to be financially responsible for all your activities on the Site, as well as for any use of your account by others, including minors in your household. You also agree to supervise any minors using the Site under your name or account. All information provided by you or members of your household when using the Site must be accurate and truthful. Journ.is reserves the right to deny access to reservation request facilities if it suspects overuse or abuse of the Site.
- GENERAL
journ.is may revise these Terms at any time without notice by updating this page. Therefore, any such revisions bind you, and you should periodically visit this page to review the then-current Terms. Your use of journ.is‘ services indicates your acceptance of these Terms.
This section outlines the governing laws, jurisdiction, and dispute resolution related to the use of the Site. It also includes provisions related to the validity and enforceability of the agreement, the entirety of the agreement, and the ability of journ.is to revise the Terms without notice.
The agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, U.S.A., and users consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of courts in Passaic County, New Jersey, U.S.A., in all disputes related to the use of the Site. Use of the Site is unauthorized in any jurisdiction that does not give effect to all provisions of these Terms.
If any part of the agreement is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the invalid or unenforceable provision will be replaced by a valid, enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original provision, and the remainder of the agreement will continue in effect.
The agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the customer and journ.is related to the Site and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals. A printed version of the agreement and any notice given in electronic form is admissible in judicial or administrative proceedings.
Journ.is may revise these Terms at any time without notice, and users should periodically review the then-current Terms. Use of journ.is’ services indicates acceptance of the Terms.
